It is available as dried raw form. It is also known by other names, like Samudra Fin, Kadala Neere, Samudraphela, Jabdul Baher and Samudraphela. To be used as a medisine, Samudraphena must be purified. The outer part is scraped clean and then powdered in a mortar and pestle. For purification, this fine powder is then soaked in lemon juice, and let to dry. Samudraphena is never used as a single. It is always combined with other herbs for its therapeutic purpose.
